Whidbey Island is located in the Puget Sound, north of Seattle and only a few hours drive away from our home. The island's rugged terrain is home to beautiful beaches, homes, farms, hiking trails, and Deception Pass State Park. Exposed to the at-times rough whether of the Sound, it is also prone to high winds that can knock down trees

and power lines during winter months.

As we made our way over the Deception Pass bridge, we noticed that the island was darker than we expected, even for a sparsely populated rural area. Little did we realize that a short while earlier, power throughout the island had been knocked out due to powerful winds that passed through the area just before we arrived. Thankfully, despite a cold and dark night, poor cell signals, and a healthy dose of anxiety, the power came back on in the middle of the night and our special day could go on as planned.

With the help of our amazing team that included a chef, a stylist, a planner, and a photographer, we got to work preparing for our special adventure. Here's a slideshow! (Use arrows on left and right sides of photo to scroll through. Hover over arrow for captions!)
